Not really news..

So far 2010 is shaping up to be a great year. I rang mine in with Ninjaspy and The Dreadnoughts in Vancouver, which was quite intense, and a great crowd of people!

I'm booking a lot of work, and have some good prospects on the horizon. I am looking at spending a weekend in Vegas shooting and assisting.. I'm looking forward to the street photography in Vegas more than anything else! Then in April I will hopefully be able to head to Toronto for Fashion Week, finally getting to chill with my good friend ~banxter and shoot the breeze, and shit!

Exciting for sure!

There are a few more prospects that are definitely a MAYBE.. Hoping to get some work doing stills in feature films, and maybe some more traveling to shoot. I'll start feeling like `cweeks

Look forward to seeing some improvements on my website, some photos from behind the scenes on music video, and fashion shoot sets.

Maybe school (for photography)

Maybe new work (hopefully)

Not really news..

I've been meaning to clean my room, but have only managed to put it off day after day..

I've had a lot of other stuff on my mind, including money, school, and of course, personal stuff.

I'm a little disappointed that both Future Shop and Best Buy have such foolish employment applications and wouldn't allow me to drop off a resume unless I filled out an online psych evaluation and a ridiculous application. I wanted to get back to work, but haven't been so lucky in either of those, or many more this winter.

I've been approved for a student loan to go to school for photography. The course is 2 years long, but I am going to challenge the first year, so hopefully when I go in to talk to them on Monday, that all works out.

Im also hoping about having a gallery showing in the new year, preferably during the olympics, so I will keep everyone updated on that. It would more than likely be 100% concert photography.

I am also considering deleting a LOT of photos from my dA gallery.. Not just the least popular, but some of the shots that I think I have outgrown, and just dont like anymore.. some of my DD's included...


What do you have planned for 2010 cleaning? Both online lives and offline lives.

Not really news..

I've taken a little time off from dA to deal with real life.. Shoots, sickness, and just plain blah.

I havent been spending so much time at the computer screen, either because of the winter blues, or just this cold Im getting over, but I couldn't stand sitting at the computer for longer than 30m at a time, so it really set me back on editing photos for clients and shows.

I have shot quite a lot in the last almost three weeks since I updated my journal, and I have a LOT of work piled up and waiting for various publications and clients.

Not really news..

As some of you know, I have a long-time feud with photo-manipulator, =jazzylemonade. The other day, I was surprised to notice that I was nominated for *TheDeviantAwards 'Best Photojournalist' along side ^estudio and some others. Oddly enough, Jazzy appears with us.

However, only a small percentage of her massive gallery of manipulations actually belong in Photojournalism. Now, I have told her thousands of times, and I firmly believe, that abusing photoshop to 'enhance' an image is NOT wrong, but in the case of photojournalism, I think it is..

Her argument?

There is no musicians category anywhere else.

She has whined to a handful of gallery moderators/directors, and administration alike, and it seems that the jury is out, as she continues to miscategorize, day after day.


She has a large following, mostly fans of the emo-brit-bands she photographs, and at one point she sent them after me, and I dare her to to it again, I will beat them back like I did last time.


What I am asking, is for anyone who reads this, and agrees that her work does not fit in the journalism genre, to note *TheDeviantAwards the following:

- I firmly believe that =jazzylemonade should be removed from the photojournalist category, for failure to adhere to not only the deviantART submission guidelines, but also to the ethics of 'real' photojournalism. Signed, -<name>

It's not that I think I should win, my good friend ^estudio deserves that, but I know that miss lemonade definitely shouldn't. If you care about photography, don't let this odd odd woman win a meaningless award.

Not really news..

I've been sick for the last week, bad cold.. It at least gave me some time to back up all my files. I bought a new 1TB drive, since my last one was full, and pretty much cloned it, so I could use my old 500 and 250 to start on the next TB.

I'm finally feeling better, but still weak and sore from doing next to nothing for the last six days. I still managed to get out and shoot two shows, and those are probably what made me sore

I have 5 days until slipknot, so hopefully I end up shooting that, it will be intense!

Im also considering going to school, since the job hunt is going along so slowly, even this close to christmas. I have the papers, filled out the student loan application, and am going to mail them off on tuesday.

Im planning on taking photography.

Im also planning on buying a Leica M6.. M9 if I can get a nice enough loan

Going to school will be easy, and give me free access to the darkrooms, which means I will be able to shoot almost exclusively film while I am there, and not have to worry about a rather inflated cost of developing and scanning.

Note: If you can ever scan your negs at a large resolution for free, do it. Its fucking expensive otherwise.


Its Thanksgiving in Canada tomorrow, so happy Turkey to all my fellow Canucks, even though we're having it on the 'wrong' day...
