Artist's Comments

Metal music is the devil, Bobby Boucher!

Sister Sabbath perform at The Cobalt in Vancouver.

A pretty decent Black Sabbath cover band.. the Latex, knee high boots, and nun hood are interesting, but there was a little too much copying ozzy's mannerisms to make the show 'better'

The crowd enjoyed it, with a fight almost breaking out in the moshpit.. If you have ever been in a pit, you know there is a line, and some sort of comradery, but there are some jerks who ruin it for everyone else..

This one guy was a little too intense, and got a little too physical with this girl at the edge of the pit.. Needless to say, no one was impressed..

I was standing right next to her, and was ready to punch the guy in the face if he tried that shit again..

It's hard to review spontaneous photography such as street photography or event photography such as this. Overall, you've captured what appears to be a very dynamic moment. In addition, there is also a visual opposite in the demeanor of the female and male vocalists, which is an added bonus in the composition.

Technically, this photo is solid. Shutter speed and DOF / aperture are spot on.

Now normally I like some foreground OOF because it held to add a sense of depth to what is a two dimensional medium, however in this case the position of the audience member's arm is a little distracting. For one, it blocks the woman. Secondly, the finger actually points attention away from the sharp subjects and into the OOF area in back.

Horribly intrusive watermarks are tacky. If you're concerned about people stealing your photos, don't post them on the internet.

Photography is the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event. (HCB)

To me, deviantART is more than just a gallery. It's where people come for support and love from one another in an artistic sense, and communal sense, and I fear we've lost sight of that.

And somehow, the best photographers seem to come from Canada.
